Quite a few 360 users have transitioned their blog pages to http://www.multiply.com . I backed up my pages there as well using http://jamesbdunn.multiply.com , so please check to see if I am in your Friends/Contacts list and Add me if you don't see me there.
Instructions on How to Copy Your Y360 Blog Pages AND Friends List to Multiply
The Quick way:
I've backed up my blog pages from Y360 on Multiply. They provide automated tools for both copying your blog pages from Y360 to your Multiply account, but also your Friends List too.
I have no intention of abandoning Y360, but I do want to backup my blog pages and friends lists during the Y360 transition to their new blog engine.
Multiply has made it easy to backup your Y360 blog pages and Friends lists.
Multiply needs your Yahoo password to access your Friends list, so create a temporary password (6 characters) in Yahoo before running the Multiply utility. Then go back to Yahoo after you are finished and restore your meaningful password to your Yahoo account.
Instructions for backing up your Y360 Friends lists:

Importing your blog pages automatically from Y360:
- log into Multiply using your Multiply username
- go to compose a blog page
- click on Y360 at the very bottom of the compose page
- the link looks like this: http://your_username.multiply.com/journal/import/yahoo360
Multiply has made it easy to backup your blog pages and friends lists.
The Manual Way:
- open two different tabs in Internet Explorer
- one at http://yourusername.multiply.com
- the other at the bottom of the first blog page you published on 360
- just below or to the right of the last period or graphic of your blog page
- hold down the left mouse button and pull the mouse cursor up to highlight just the content of that one blog page
- carefully release the mouse button so you don't accidentally double click it
- press Ctrl and C at the same time
- go to your Multiply page and Compose your first blog page
- position your mouse cursor in the text box for entering content
- press Ctrl and V at the same time
- this will drop the content of your 360 blog into the Multiply blog
- you may have to press Ctrl and V twice, for some systems
- video's and other javascript will not transfer
- Multiply has a separate section for videos
- enter a title for that page and save it
- open the next Multiply page you want to Compose
- go to your 360 page and move your cursor up slightly to begin selecting the next blog page at its' bottom
- repeat this sequence until all of your blog pages are saved.
This provides me with backup of my blog pages and I can add friends who similarly do so on Multiply. If the Yahoo blog engine bombs out, I/we will be prepared.
I intend to continue to use Yahoo 360 until she is put to sleep. I'm loyal that way! 360 was my first blog experience, and I will think fondly of her; regardless of the quirks.

Pro and Con Summary of a few Free Blog Services

| Notes: http://jamesbdunn.multiply.com Other blog utilities appear to be more configurable, but more 360 users have reported to have backed up their blogs and friend lists at Multiply than all other blog utilities combined. If you create an account at Multiply, make sure you add yourself to the Y360 Refuges Group. That way your 360 Friends can find you with the new name you use for yourself at Multiply. There are currently over 500 Y360 users who are part of that Group; including myself. http://y360refugees.multiply.com/ |
| PRO | CON |
| Blog pages from 360 easily transferred | Does NOT support javascript |
| More feedback from 360 users who have transferred there than any other blog utility | |
| A Group utility allows users to identify themselves as having a common interest | |

| Notes: This is as close to 360 as I've seen ! So far, I like VOX the most. But I suspect that once Yahoo transitions to their new blog engine, I will probably like the new Yahoo blog engine even more. They require a phone number to sign-up. It may bite me in the rear later, but I used a valid federal number for a politicians office and it worked. I have not checked to see if javascript works. http://jamesdunn.vox.com/ |
| PRO | CON |
| Pretty blog page layout | they require a phone number for sign-up ??? |
| Excellent Friends networking utilities | |

| Notes: Blog does not work reliably. I think they are still building the utility. Seems like a potentially nice blogging tool. Provides a toolbar for Internet Explorer that provides auto login, a direct link to compose a blog, and a list of search engines like YouTube and Wikipedia for easily researching content. I haven't found a Friends network as yet.. http://jamesbdunn.today.com/ |
| PRO | CON |
| toolbar access | unreliable, functions sometimes don't work |
| easy to use | no friends network that I could find easily |
| active development by today.com | |
| nice URL name (username.today.com) | |
