James Dunn

Asatru,

What did you mean by "I see that you completely missed my point about what kind of person YOU might be"?

Is your point; that a persons historical behavior should be ignored because someone else is demonstrating lesser bad character in the form of verbal abuse? Asatru, you can't believe McCain or Obama are good for our country; McCain being worse of the two.

Republicans and Democrats are two ends of the same animal. Republicans cut tax benefits for the middle class and the poor, while making every attempt to remove our Freedoms. Democrats impose taxes on the middle class and poor, while making every attempt not to look like Republicans. But they are the same beast, just as corrupt.

Find me a candidate with decent character to compare to. Comparing the character of a politician to their actual historical deeds is like comparing apples to sheet metal; they are largely unrelated.

I'm in New Mexico, so my appreciation of a political servant in another state should be noteworthy.

Senator Carl Levin is the closest thing I know of to an honest politician. He randomly sends out polls throughout Michigan and asks the people how he should vote on complex issues; then he votes how the masses want him to vote.

http://levin.senate.gov/issues/

I couldn't tell you if he is Republican or Democrat, I'm not sure he even cares. He represents the people, not the backers of a political party.

That's the character I value, the character demonstrated by historical deeds; not rhetoric.

Asatru, I'm sure you want what is best for the world, what is best for the people given the vast interrelationships of ethical concern, and what is best for a future that is not yet within sight. Please, from the very truth of my existence, please, judge the people you support based upon their historical records and accomplishments, not upon their rhetoric.

I may have miss your point about what kind of person I might be; but I want to be the kind of person who judges a person based upon what they have done, not what they say they want to do.

In John McCain's case, he has historically been destructive. In Obama's case, he is a typical politician with very little in the way of accomplishments; but he has little lobbyist backing.

McCain's destructive tendencies are a certainty, Obama is a loose cannon; given the choice between certain destruction of our Freedoms and the loss of many lives world wide by McCain; and not knowing what Obama will do. I have no choice but to vote for Obama; at least he may not be as destructive.

If I could find a worthwhile candidate, I'd suport and vote for them. But find one that isn't under the thumb of a special interest group!

Lobbyists are criminals; political decisions should be made based upon ethics, not personal benefit. So McCain in my opinion is of the lowest character because he represents everything that is criminal.

James Dunn <jamesbdunn> wrote: McCain is pro-oil profiteer, just as was Bush. Palin acquired and spent more Government funds on supporting defense contractors than anyone else I know.

She was the mayor of a village, not a city; 6,000 people. We had almost as many people on our ship, the USS Enterprise (CVN-65). Palin is as corrupt as McCain. Though I can't speak any better of Obama; though I don't know of any corrupt activities (yet).

Here's some facts about John McCain:

1. John McCain voted against establishing a national holiday in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Now he says his position has "evolved," yet he's continued to oppose key civil rights1 laws.
2. According to Bloomberg News, McCain is more hawkish than Bush on Iraq, Russia and China. Conservative columnist Pat Buchanan says McCain "will make Cheney look like Gandhi."2
3. His reputation is built on his opposition to torture, but McCain voted against a bill to ban waterboarding, and then applauded President Bush for vetoing that ban.3
4. McCain opposes a woman's right to choose. He said, "I do not support Roe versus Wade. It should be overturned."4
5. The Children's Defense Fund rated McCain as the worst senator in Congress for children. He voted against the children's health care bill last year, then defended Bush's veto of the bill.5
6. He's one of the richest people in a Senate filled with millionaires. The Associated Press reports he and his wife own at least eight homes! Yet McCain says the solution to the housing crisis is for people facing foreclosure to get a "second job" and skip their vacations.6

7. Many of McCain's fellow Republican senators say he's too reckless to be commander in chief. One Republican senator said: "The thought of his being president sends a cold chill down my spine. He's erratic. He's hotheaded. He loses his temper and he worries me."7
8. McCain talks a lot about taking on special interests, but his campaign manager and top advisers are actually lobbyists. The government watchdog group Public Citizen says McCain has 59 lobbyists raising money for his campaign, more than any of the other presidential candidates.8
9. McCain has sought closer ties to the extreme religious right in recent years. The pastor McCain calls his "spiritual guide," Rod Parsley, believes America's founding mission is to destroy Islam, which he calls a "false religion." McCain sought the political support of right-wing preacher John Hagee, who believes Hurricane Katrina was God's punishment for gay rights and called the Catholic Church "the Antichrist" and a "false cult."9
10. He positions himself as pro-environment, but he scored a 0—yes, zero—from the League of Conservation Voters last year.10

There is a little locker room rhyme which, make no mistake is extremely degrading to women, you may have heard the one (certainly every straight man has) that begins "If it smells like fish...." This little rhyme suggests that a healthy woman's private parts have less than an aromatic fragrance. Although this may be true about some women by and large it is not and this commonly known rhyme's only function is degradation.

Recently B. Hussein Obama made some comments about "lipstick on a pig," and "stinky fish in a newspaper." Hearing the media and some people tell it, B. Hussein Obama is much too smart to have been trying to use these comments to reference Sara Palin. Really?

How stupid some people seem to think we are.

Trust me when I tell you that the first thought in the minds of the people who listened to this man speak was indeed Sara Palin. Had this not occurred less than a week after the Republican National Convention we might be able to take Mr. Obama's word that this was not his intent however timing and motive are everything. Had it not been for Mrs. Palin's "lipstick on a pittbull comment" these comments about pigs in makeup and smelly fish odors might have been heard by the handful of people who can't see through this type of ugly (good ole boy) politics but to this writer the reference was so obviously directed at Mrs. Palin that it astounds me that anyone could have thought otherwise.

Much has been made about the same comment being made several months ago by Senator McCain. Let's examine the context and timing of both remarks for a moment. Senator McCain's campaign at that time was aimed at, not any Democratic candidate but fellow Republicans. His comment was aimed at a certain health care policy which he believed was fundamentally flawed. The context of his comment was that of a regular Joe and Navy man speaking in metaphoric terms many Americans would understand and appreciate. A bit like H. Ross Perot quite frankly.

Barack Hussein Obama is not a regular Joe. He's is not a Navy man. And although I'm never met the man I'm pretty sure he's no H. Ross Perot.

The Obama campaign is in big trouble. Ever since Sara Palin was appointed to be the Republican Vice Presidential Candidate Obama's polls have been slipping fast. Many polls show Obama actually behind McCain and most delegate counts show that if the election were held today, John McCain and Sara Palin would be the new leaders of the Free World.

What is a homeboy to do?

Well what did he do to the Clintons? He played the race card and allowed his subordinates to paint both Bill and Hillary Clinton as racists effectively putting an end to her campaign fueled by a sympathetic media who has once again, like coy-dogs, fed into the Obama Machine. That is some pretty ugly and underhanded business and nothing less than the worst kind of old school politics but it worked. Now that Obama desperately needs the Clintons I guess they aren't racists anymore. Heck he even brought out an elderly white uncle who served in WWII. Next thing we'll hear is that he's the long lost son of John F. Kennedy.

Given Obama's record in this race and the timing of the comment and his own nature which isn't country or military based ... what is the truth here?

The truth is this. Obama and his team found themselves in unfamiliar waters. Desperately sinking in the polls and losing the media spotlight they were in dire straights. A plan had to be formulated to get Barry back on T.V. and take the wind from the sails of a conservative movement that threatened to derail all their plans. They needed to find or create some dirt.

While going over manuscripts and news footage someone fell upon John McCain's metaphor comparing one health care proposal to another similar (if not identical) health care proposal.

Yes my friends the media is absolutely right, H. Hussein Obama is a smart man. He's smarter than the Barbie and Ken dolls who read our news from propters each night. Obama knew McCain and party would be outraged (and rightly so) and he knew that most of the media supports him and would swallow his explanation (CNN's parent company is one of Obama's top 5 financial supporters). It really was a brilliant move.

Here's the real issue. The real issue here is how ugly this was. It is bad enough that Obama supporters, many of which have illegitimate children themselves tried to make an issue out of Sara's daughter being pregnant. It is bad enough that some Democrats are trying to convince people that Sara's Pro-Life stand is irresponsible evidenced by her own child who has Downs syndrome. It is bad enough that certain members of Obama's team, certain supporter's, and certain members of the Democratic Party allowed the Clintons to be painted as racists....

This is not the kind of change or hope American's dream of. Not "by any means necessary." This is not the way we want to see our Presidential elections run. We do not want to watch a Presidential Candidate and/or his supporters attempt to destroy someone just so they can win an election. No matter what garbage the American Corporate Media tries to feed us for dinner every single one of us knows what happened here. We are not blind or stupid. Even though apparently Obama and his supporters must think we are.

Character should be the most important issue when electing someone to lead the Free World. Most of us have been around long enough to know that politicians both black and white make promises they never keep so you have to take all of their campaign promises with a grain of salt. But what we can get a sense of is a persons character and that character can be viewed by their behavior.

B. Hussein Obama's charactor is questionable at best and at worst represents the worst kind of politics and government we could ever hope to be cursed with.

Now it is time to look into your own mirror and at your own charactor. What kind of person are you really? Are you the kind of person who makes excuses for this kind of behavior and politics? An ugly person can justify almost anything. Maybe even this.
