for everyone

Last year my wife recieved a bill for her Citi credit card. As ususal she opened it right away. She was shocked that the due date on the bill was two (2) days from opening the bill. She immediately contacted Citi and she was blatantly told that the bill was sent out as required by law and that she was to pay her bill on time to avoid penalties.

That was when she found out that Citi had already charged her a late fee the previous month. Apparently, they had done the same thing the previous month. By waiting for the weekend to pay her bills the due date had elapsed and she was delinquent.

Citi credited her account for the late charges and urged her to pay her bills on time in the future. How disrespectful! My wife has had credit cards with other companies for over 20 years and has NEVER had the problems that she has incurred with Citi. At one time Citi had something to do with her school loans and they mucked it up as well.

Well, my wife recieved another bill in the mail from Citi last month; only a few days before the due date! My wife had an overpayment and was owed money back by Citi. So my wife called to cancel the credit card. Citi then reviewed her account and reapplied a late charge that they had previously dismissed.

To recap: Citi mailed three separate bills so that they would arrive only a few days before the date due. Additionally, Citi holds on to payments and enters them after the day they are recieved. Through no fault of members, Citi appears to be scamming money from its' credit card holders.

I find it hard to believe that this is a one time assualt by Citi on one of its members. Has anyone else had similar problems with Citi?

Until I find out otherwise, I suggest everyone close out their accounts with Citi and do business with a more reputable credit card company.
