James Dunn

Please make special note that the following is from just one of the 50 or more representatives that I had contacted. Proactively contact your Representatives and demand that a Clean and abundant source of energy be used to power our planet and reverse Global Warming; and contact anyone else that may listen to you. The more voices heard, the higher the priority our Representatives will consider abundant energy and reversing Global Warming. You may use any portion of the materials I have provided anywhere on the web.

Dear James,

Thank you for sharing your ideas about how to reduce the effects of global warming. Hearing from you helps me better serve Middle Tennessee.

I appreciate your passing along such detailed plans about constructing energy-producing mirrors in space, selling the energy to fund NASA space programs, and influencing global weather systems. We need more people with enthusiasm like yours who want to look at every possible solution and work together to address global warming.

Like you, I believe we have an obligation to protect our environment for current and future generations. The latest science indicates that global warming will have an increasing impact on our society and on ecosystems around the world and will contribute to droughts, floods, more extreme weather, and the erosion of our coastlines. In fact, NASA scientist James Hansen, one of the country's leading climate researchers, has said that "we have a very brief window of opportunity to deal with climate change...no longer than a decade, at the most."

As Chairman of the House Science and Technology Committee, I intend to make global climate change a top priority. For too long, the leadership in the House of Representatives did not allow committees with jurisdiction over this issue to even hold hearings; in addition, the leadership did not allow a vote on any legislation related to climate change. Change is already evident as the Science Committee held the first congressional meetings on climate change just this year. I plan to promote the consensus on climate change science as well as explore specific regional, environmental, and economic sector vulnerabilities to climate change, among other areas of the issue.

You may be interested in the Science Committee's website on global climate change which provides information on climate change and what is being done to combat it.

The website is called The Facts on Global Climate Change at:
http://science.house.gov/resources/climate_change.htm

Here you will find legislation on climate change, research and development initiatives, and potential effects of climate change as well as a Q&A section.

Rest assured that I will be encouraging my colleagues to also take action on this important issue.

Again, thank you for contacting me. Please call on me in the future if I may be of service to you or your family.

Stay in touch,
/s
