BITCH - Babe In Total Control of Herself
Inspired by a blog entry by: Cheryl
When men assertively take control of a situation, we are admired and respected for our confidence and leadership.
When women assertively take control of a situation, they are often ridiculed and termed a bitch.
A double standard.
In truth, women must be more assertive than men to provoke the same cooperation as a man would, because she has to fight off the persona that women are weak. I'm not talking about complaining, I'm referring to up and in your face agressive.
It really isn't a choice, most men (and other women) don't respect a woman's earned position or their unspoken earned professional curteousies. For instance, a task a man prescribes will be followed, maybe loosely, but followed. A task prescribed by a woman will often be completely ignored; unless she is a bitch. In which case you better hold onto your sensitive feelings because she is going to make them raw. Next time, prescribed tasks will at least be attempted.
Funny thing, a BITCH is always more well respected than a hard working woman. Apparent strength is valued greater than hard work and knowledge to staffing. Even when a hard working and knowledgeable woman is in control, she still needs to occasionally "get in the face" of those who don't follow her directions.
We need more BITCHes in the world, or perhaps less sexism (in both men and women).
The next time you think you see a bitch, ask yourself if she is really a Babe In Total Control of Herself.
